Norro Wilson has experienced unlimited success in every phase of the music business. He is one of Nashville’s most successful songwriters, with songs recorded by nearly every artist on every major label. He has to his credit 38 BMI awards and 29 #1 awards as a producer. Two of his most recognized compositions are “The Most Beautiful Girl” and “A Very Special Love Song”, which Charlie Rich recorded and were #1 hits in the pop and country charts.
For fourteen years Norro worked with AI Gallico Publishing where he was responsible for the success of the Nashville operation. Later he followed Chips Moman at Warner Brothers as A&R head for five years and was responsible for signing and producing records on Joe Stampley, Rex Allen, John Anderson and Gary Mortis. As well as working with Warner Brothers, Norro produced hits for other labels and their artists, some of which included Reba McEntire, Charlie Pride, Janie Fricke, Charlie McClain and Mickey Gilley. After leaving Warner Brothers, Norro became Chief Officer for Merit Music, where he built a strong catalogue and served as CEO until it was successfully sold.
Norro again experienced songwriting success with Lorrie Morgan’s recording of “A Picture Of Me Without You” and Aaron Neville’s recording of “The Grand Tour.” In 1996, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. Norro produced Shania Twain’s first album for Mercury, Mindy McCready’s first album for BNA Records and also co-produced several albums on Sammy Kershaw with Buddy Cannon for Mercury Records. Norro and Buddy have also produced two albums on George Jones for MCA.
In the past 2 years Wilson has received as producer, gold album awards for “Single White Female” (Chely Wright), “No Place That Far” (Sara Evans) and “Brand New Me” (John Michael Montgomery), Platinum awards for Kenny Chesney’s “I Will Stand” and “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems”, and Double Platinum awards for Chesney’s “Everywhere We Go” and “Greatest Hits”.
