Ford Builds 2015 Mustang On Top Of The Empire State Building.
The crew had 6 hours in the middle of the night to move the pieces and do the assembly while the deck was closed to the public. They planned ahead by building a model of the smallest elevator opening and carrying the pieces through on practice runs.
Visitors to the observation deck will be able to check out the vehicle until the deck closes in the early morning hours of April 18, when all that handiwork will be disassembled and whisked away.
After weeks of preparation, the Ford team finally arrived at the Empire State Building late on the evening of April 14, 2014 with a truckload of parts that would eventually make up a 2015 Mustang convertible. The first night was spent unloading the truck and transferring everything up to the 86th floor in pleasant, early spring conditions.
However, the second night, which was dedicated to assembling the car came with a weather encore of one of the worst winters in decades. Watch as a dedicated crew battles mother nature to build a car 1,000 feet above the streets of Manhattan.
