Thursday night on The Tonight Show, Russell Crowe sang some Johnny Cash with Jimmy Fallon.
Before he began, Russell Crowe asked Jimmy Fallon: “Do you mind if we do an old Australian folk song?”
“Yeah, we love old Australian folk songs,” Jimmy Fallon replied.
“It’s by… uh, Johnny Cash,” Russell Crowe said.
“Folsom Prison Blues” is a song written and recorded by American country music artist Johnny Cash. The song combines elements from two popular folk genres, the train song and the prison song, both of which Johnny Cash would continue to use for the rest of his career. It became one of Cash’s signature songs.
